About our Daycare
We believe in providing a balanced and structured day for every pup. Each day is carefully planned to ensure that your dog receives the right amount of exercise, mental stimulation, and rest. With tailored activities and playtime, we keep your dog engaged and happy while also giving them time to recharge. Whether it's a fun group play session, one-on-one attention, or quiet downtime, our structured plans are flexible enough for each dog's needs.
Daycare Structure
This structure is just a guideline for how the average day at City Dogs works, and can vary based on what the individual dog or group as a whole needs.
The first couple hours every day are very important for the dogs to settle in for the day. This period allows us to work on the dog groupings and make sure their day is set up for success.
Playtime offers dogs the physical and mental exercise to keep themselves active and entertained. Based on their needs, they may require more or less attention at varying levels of intensity. This period also allows us the time to give them some one-on-one time to work on any beginner level obedience training or help them grow in confidence.
Nap time during the middle of the day gives all of the morning dogs an opportunity to recharge their batteries. This will also give them an opportunity to reset before the afternoon dogs join daycare for the rest of the day.

As the day winds down we give dogs another opportunity for rest, keeping them calm as pick-up time closes in. This period of the day gives us an opportunity to start cleaning and resetting the play areas, ready for the next day of fun!

Join the Waitlist
As we are near capacity on almost all days, we have opened a waitlist for new customers. Below is a link to fill out the form to join the waitlist. Please email us if you have any questions, or wish to enquire.
Availability
Over the last few months it has looked more and more like we will be reaching full capacity on most (if not all) days in the future. At this point it looks like we will almost certainly be unable to take on any more clients, unless there is a permanent change to an existing customer.
We are fully dedicated to providing the same high quality care for your pups, which is why we have kept our day-to-day capacity at 25 dogs. We are hopeful we can provide a solution to everyone, but sometimes we can run out of capacity. Please get in touch if you are unsure about booking availability, or wish to discuss repeat bookings or booking in advance. We may be able to accommodate alternate days or different booking times where flexible.
Grooming Partner
We have partnered with the lovely team at Regal Pets, located just down the road at Unit 3a, 33 Kaiwharawhara Road. If you ever need to make a daycare or grooming booking on the same day, then either we or Regal Pets are happy walk your pup to and from their appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions
We do not offer any taxi services for our clients. We are located on Kaiwharawhara Road; a convenient location for most traffic coming into Wellington from the northern suburbs and wider Wellington region. We have parking available on-site for quick drop-offs.
Absolutely! We are available to show you around our facilities outside of operating hours - after 6:30 pm weekdays - or on weekends. Just send us an email and we can sort out a time for you and your dog to come in for a tour!
We believe that the best practice in trialing a dog is in the realistic scenario of how you would be using our services. Whether you need half days, full days or a mixture of both, it makes sense to trial your dog how you see fit. Their first handful of visits to our daycare will give us an opportunity to evaluate their temperament. It can often take more than a few stays for your dog to settle in, or any behavioural patterns to emerge. During the trial process we will keep you informed on their progress, and any steps we are taking to ensure they are feeling welcomed with open arms. Feel free to contact us for any more info on this process.
Our daycare facilities are all indoors. We do have access to a grassy area nearby where we will happily take dogs to the toilet during the day to ensure they are not holding on during their stay in daycare. We are also monitoring interest on the possibility of running a dog walking service, as we are very close to the Trelissick Park walking track. Feel free to let us know if this service would interest you.
We have designed our daycare to focus on the quality of care and attention we can provide to each dog. You won't see us try to cram as many dogs in as possible, like many other daycares do. We have set a limit to the number of dogs that come through our doors each day, meaning your pup gets the best of the best.
